A fictional and famous Italian-American plumber who resides in Mushroom Kingdom is paying a visit to Tampa! Say what???

That’s right ppl! The character, Mario, who was originally created by Nintendo, is making a fashion appearance. He’s been seen world wide since the 80’s, but this month he’s showing up to a posh Cuisinistas “Super Mario Brothers Bash”. He must have a great publicist!!! What a way to gain some good publicity, Mario! This party is in celebration of a special birthday and it’s all about the kids. Well, so we say!

Most of you have children in your lives in some capacity. Your own children, nieces, nephews, friend’s children that have become like your own family, grandkids, great grandkids, and so on. What we’re going to focus on quickly is how to ‘get ready’ for a childs birthday party. There’s something to the practical application of clothing and accessories when it comes to being around children!!! Then, take a look at the bottom of the article for some fun fashion facts you may not know about our virtual friend, Mario!

Let’s get this party started! WTW to a kid’s birthday bash!!!
•Kids can be messy. Wear something you feel stunning in, but keep in mind that food, drinks, paint, dirt, markers, cake, and other common things kids get into may get in the way of keeping a pretty outfit squeaky clean.
•Jewelry should be minimal. Those oversized dangling earrings and long layered necklaces are a Spring 2012 must have. But, if even one of those adorable kids take a yank to it, well, either it will shock you or shatter. Good thing oversized studs are another super trendy accessory piece this season. •Keep it classy. All short dresses, low neck line shirts, and booty showin’ skirts need to stay home tucked away in a closet far, far away. Do I really even need to say it! 🙂
•Inquire about how casual or formal the event will be if it’s not listed on the invitation. Maybe even select an outfit based on the theme of the party. Adults can have fun too! Gals no mustaches pls.
•Opt for clothes you can play in, such as t-shirts, shorts and tennies (“trainers” as they’re called in England) for a casual kids party or select a fancy dress or suit for a more formal kids birthday party.

Miyamoto, creator of Mario, was apparently his stylist too. Check out these fun facts about his look and wardrobe! There’s always a reason to style choices. Here are his!

As most of you know, Mario wore red overalls and a blue shirt. This was created to contrast against one another and the background. A cap was added to avoid drawing the character’s hairstyle, forehead, and eyebrows, as well as to eliminate the issue of animating his hair as he moved and jumped. To make him appear more human onscreen, he was given distinct features, prominently a large nose and a mustache, which avoided the need to draw a mouth and facial expressions on the miniature character.
I wonder if Mario was created this day in age, would he be wearing overalls? You tell us!!! What would you like to see the little guy wearing?

By the way, for anyone who thought Mario was a thing of the past, think again. After the Cuisinistas event he’s crossing the pond, to London, for the 2012 Olympic Games!

Steal the Show,
Nicole
