Plan It: Tonya sent out a digital invitation announcing Chris’ 40th surprise party and “vintage dude” theme about 4 weeks before the big event. Hosting Chris’s party at home was the perfect choice and allowed everyone to relax in their own backyard with cocktails and cigars throughout the evening. Tonya’s “Vintage Dude” theme fit Chris’s general preferences well and was perfect for their home location.

Create It: What better way to ring in the new era of your time with some fancy cigars on the party display table? Because the surprise party for Chris was co-ed, Tonya bought two kinds of cigars for our guests – Traditional for the guys and Skinny Cherry for the girls – all customized with a photo of Chris making a funny face! Customized matches and napkins were displayed at the party table as well for additional flair.

Everyone took a trip down memory lane when the guest of honor also received this awesome memory collage featuring printed out old & new photos of the birthday boy in black and white.

Style It: Since this party was at someone’s residence in the evening, guests arrived in “dressed-up casual” attire – many girls were in cocktail skirts and dresses and many guys showed up in jeans and button down shirts. Tonya’s flowy orange look is from Free People and Nicole’s wearing an Anthropologie skirt and Anthropologie accessories.

Tonya and Chris’s daughter wore an adorable customized onesie from TinyTotsDesign on Etsy featuring the phrase “Happy 40th Birthday Daddy” on the front. Amazing!

Party On,

Ashley
