Fit Into The Party With JP: Round 2

Welcome back, ladies, as I do my absolute best to provide mind bending mentality for your drink of choice during upcoming events, get-togethers, or raging nights out on the town…  I bring to you the truth, so please, don’t shoot the messenger.  I’m only here to help!

An avid rap fan, or music fan altogether, I find myself caught up in the beat, and the lyrics.  I serve this little sampling up for you, today…

….”French-vanilla, butter-pecan, chocolate-deluxe. Even caramel sundaes is gettin touched”

Yes, it’s the ‘Wu,’ and you may have confused those bars for some of the latest flavors in today’s vodka world…  Being male, my spectrum is not quite as broad as “yours” when it comes to these flavors, and I find myself wondering just how in the hell they’ve come up with, or why in the hell they’ve come up with a, per chance…. cucumber and melon vodka, to name just one.  “You all” seem to enjoy this stuff…  But, of course, here’s the kicker…

Alcohol, as you may or may not know, is its own calorie.  It is neither a fat, nor a carbohydrate, nor a protein.  It is somewhat dense in comparison to the other 3, in that there are 7 calories found per gram of alcohol.  Still with me?  Good!  So there’s a reason I’ve suddenly gone all “science guy” here, since I find that most women enjoy a martini, or a mixed drink with a flavored vodka, or better yet, SHOTS!  Be wary of your selections, please…

A 1.5oz serving (a shot) of your average plain vodka contains approximately 70-90 calories.  Food, or should I say, Drink for thought.  The good news…  No fat or carbs in this choice!  However, again, going off experience here, I don’t know too many women who tend to drink plain old vodka with a splash of water, (my drink of choice) and rather opt for the flavored stuff…  Now you’re starting to throw some carbs into the mix.  Typically, about 7.5g of carbs per “shot” of the flavored goodness…  Throw your favorite sugar (carb) loaded juice or soda on top, and we’re beginning to play with weight gaining fire.

If you insist on adding some carbs to your flavored vodka, consider Bloody Mary Martini’s as a “healthier” option. Consider it a lesser of the two evils. Its made with pepper-flavored vodka and V8 so the carbs are coming from the veggies, so the sugar is somewhat “natural” and it is pretty low cal in general…  Here’s my issue….SODIUM.  1 Serving of V8 is 980mg of sodium!!!!  That’s HALF of a “suggested” daily sodium intake of 2000mg per day.  Here’s the recipe: http://www.campbellskitchen.com/recipes/recipedetails?recipeid=51117&fm=internal_search

So, I understand the Oscars are around the corner, and if you’re planning to play “drink every time Seth MacFarlane makes an insensitive joke” with your female company, I’d suggest you take note of the above, and avoid the combo of flavored vodka’s and mixers, or plain vodka and soda’s, or shots of sugar filled concoctions, or….  I’m sure you get it.  I’m never one to recommend the absence of partying, but I am looking out for you as summer and bathing suits creep into our heads…  It doesn’t take the absence of my manhood to know where women store the majority of their fat, and it’s not “bathing suit friendly…”
