Let’s just go out on a limb and review a few things:
- You will be indulging in some cocktails and food this month
- You still want to stay somewhat healthy and active though
- You like to make other people happy, especially during the holidays (and wear pink)
Are we right on target? It’s ok, you’re still somewhat unpredictable. 🙂 But, it sounds like our Pink Ribbon Pilates Party is for you!!! It took place last week at The North Face in NYC and involved:
- Taking a top notch pilates class from a super star instructor
- Mingling and shopping over light bites and libations
- All while supporting breast cancer
We had a BLAST! Curious on how we put it all together? We thought you might be…and to help inspire you to throw one too, we’ve taken the liberty to mark down the initial planning details below.
Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC): This month’s party is all about supporting breast cancer. Breast cancer is important to me because my mom is a survivor and she’s THE strongest person I know. We chose Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) at recommendation by The North Face’s Tim Fowler. I really admire this nonprofit foundation’s dedication to “…promoting early detection and a healthy, active lifestyle as the best means of breast cancer prevention.”. Also, we feel it ties in well with Sweat for Smiles because of it’s origins in the action sports community.
When planning your fitness fundraiser party, choose a charity you feel passionate about. Most have personal fundraising pages which makes it easy to leave donations up to friends to decide. I was able to set up our Sweat for Smiles Personal Fundraising Page very easily from links on B4BC.org.
Learn more about B4BC at b4bc.org and consider downloading their free app. It has a great reminder that you can set for a self exam as well as tips on how to do it. Life gets busy so I strongly recommend take advantage of this easy yet helpful app.
Pink Ribbon Pilates: I’m thrilled to announce that celebrity instructor Kristin McGee has partnered with us again for this party. We decided that pilates would be an inspiring workout for this breast cancer fundraiser and fitness party. Kristin has been teaching pilates since the 90’s and is your go-to gal for a strong and sleek mid-section! She has been on the cover of 3 pilates style magazines has two top-rated pilates plans available on Cody and her own app titled “Yoga and Pilates with Kristin McGee” available on iTunes.
Sleek & Stylish Fitness Style: We are so appreciative of The North Face for allowing us to host this Pink Ribbon Pilates Party at The North Face store on the Upper West Side in NYC. The upstairs location has a pretty view of the Upper West Side and it seemed fitting to be surrounded by stylish fitness apparel. The North Face has designed their “Training” fitness apparel line to be comfortable, versatile, and durable to last both in and out of the gym all season long. With a variety of colors and styles, it was easy for Kristin and I to pick out some cute items for the party! I love the phrase “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, Never Stop” which is on a number of their training tops – so fitting for this party! The materials on the clothes in The North Face’s “Training” line feel really high quality and comfortable.
Engaging Online Invitation: We sent out a fun and informative digital invitation about 3 weeks prior to this event which included the party details, date, time & location, the Sweat for Smiles fundraising page for B4BC for optional donations, and more. I chose an invitation that allowed me to personalize it with a picture which was nice. Paperless Post has a number of free invitation options like this.
So have you picked your charity yet? Ok, next it’s time to plan health-inspired appetizers and pink bubbly cocktail! Tune in over the next couple weeks for the recipes and much more including favors and fashions from The North Face and raffle prizes from The North Face, Vira Sun, and Fashletics!
