Okay folks, this was the most fun party to plan, by far, except for my wedding, of course.  The anticipation of finding out the gender of my growing baby, what joy and excitement!  The ideas are endless and mine were inspired by Pinterest, Etsy and the book titled “What’s a Hostess to Do?” by Susan Spungen.  To kick off this blog, here’s an excerpt from this fabulous book that I would like to share:

“As a hostess, you need to feel confident—about your home, your cooking skills, and your social skills. If you’re not having fun, your guests won’t be either. It’s helpful to master a few skills, some basic (such as opening a bottle of wine or champagne…) and some more elaborate (such as making a souffle…) that will impress your guests and create a bit of a performance. Just one small display of panache will give your guests something to remember about the party.”

The first step in planning a baby gender revealment party is to make sure your doctor is clear that you don’t want to verbally hear your baby’s sex – but instead, you want the results written in a sealed envelope so you can give to your pastry chef.  They will make you either a cake or cupcakes that will have the appropriate color of filling on the inside – only visible when you bite into it at your party.   My pastry chef, Kristi from Verbena Pastries makes the most yummy cupcakes (and cookies)!

Think pink and blue everything when it comes to decorations.  I bought pink and blue napkins/plates and then purchased these super cute utensils from Etsy – pink bows and blue mustaches!

For party favors, just fill blue and pink mini plastic baby bottles (from Party City) and make homemade salt bath scrub.  So easy and your guests will think you out-did yourself!  Also, I bought a distressed pink/blue picture frame and am placing the invitation on display next to the party favors as extra décor.

Also, check out this fabulous and completely adorable banner I ordered off of Etsy – perfect for a gender revealment party.  Love it!

Feel free to go all out – this is your day to celebrate a new life.  Another idea is to hang pink and blue paper lanterns around the patio outside and sprinkle tables with blue mustache and pink bow confetti.  Do whatever you can to invest time in the planning, because trust me, you need something fun to take your mind off of what’s hidden in the golden envelope!

xoxo,

Tonya
