photo 5Everyone has attended a baby shower, but have you ever attended or hosted a baby SPRINKLE?  What’s that you might ask? It’s a trendy way to show a mommy-to-be she’s loved by “sprinkling” her with small gifts for her second child.   Think storm versus a very light rain. In other words, instead of a baby swing, high chair or a bundle of clothes (shower gifts), think favorite baby books, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, and little toys (sprinkle gifts).

Presents should not be extravagant, just a “little” nice surprise for the new baby.  Our very own Cusinista, Ashley, is having another baby boy so we are going to tell you about her fabulous Safari themed “Sprinkle”.

Baby Sprinkle Activities

  • Make your own stationary! You know I love to talk about activities.  At Ashley’s safari, the girls made stationary. – how fun!
  • Sign 18 birthday cards. While you’re at the event making stationary for yourself, you can also have 18 birthday cards for the future baby.  Number each of them and allow each guest to send a future birthday message that will be given to the child as he turns each age over the years.  What a great memory this will create, especially as he grows up. Make sure each card is sealed so that Mommy and baby only open in the appropriate years to come – what a treasure!

Flowers!

  • Anything with an umbrella/small rain drops would be cute to emphasis the “sprinkle” aspect. We chose a safari theme.  Check out these types of flowers to accomplish the perfect look: Solidago, Daffodils, Green Trick, September, and Curly Willow. See the below flower arrangement made by Ashley’s mom, Susan! arrangement
  • Place some pretty and color-appropriate flowers in some chic rain boots! Look at this adorable idea we found on Pinterest!Screen shot 2014-05-16 at 10.40.15 AM

Décor Décor Décor!

  • Sprinkle everything – like glitter on the table/stationary, candy sprinkled in popcorn, and traditional sprinkles on cake pops, rice krispies, etc,  You can even place confetti in the bottom of balloons before they are blown up with helium.
  • Put sprinkles in the bottom of a small glass vase, then adding a candle or flowers – precious!
  • Rim martini glasses with sprinkles.
  • Make white chocolate covered strawberries and dip them in sprinkles while the chocolate is still hot.
