The start of a New Year = lots of new resolutions! Most everyone that I know starts each year with at least one new goal. It could be anything from aiming to achieve something exciting, setting their sights high to break bad habits, begin new healthy lifestyle changes, lose extra pounds, start a new business, show more love to family and friends, create budgets to plan for financial success… you name it, and there’s probably someone out there establishing a resolution for it!
What about creating a resolution to clean out your closet/s? Think there’s room for resolutions like that? Well, I have about 10 different, yet realistically achievable, resolutions for 2013. This cleaning your closet idea, while a seemingly dreadful task, is the perfection solution to achieving my 2013 style success.
Life’s a Party, Dress for the Occasion!!! However, how are you to know what to wear if you can’t find it in your wardrobe! Here are a few simple tips to organizing and decorating your closet. Follow these steps and your breathtaking wardrobe will thank you!
- Purchase hangers, all of the same color and same finish: reflect your newfound organizational skills by stream lining this over-looked garment tool! There are simple, affordable plastic hangers at Target. These are great because you might have a lot of clothes and these are around $1.30 for a pack of 10. (sold only in stores, not online)
- Uniform your garments by placing all dresses together, skirts together, t-shirts together… you get the idea!
- Then color code each category
- Grab a few wicker bins (or under-your-bed storage boxes if you’re in a small NYC apt)! They are great for storage of clutches, belts, and smaller items.
- Finally, add your personality to it. I like to see my fancier shoes, so I placed them on shelves within my closet and I plan to add either a baby pink or bright white chandelier. Add a little touch of happiness to your wardrobe home!
Before you know it, you’ll look at your closet in a new light. You might even begin to think your closet is the next “It” boutique! Make this a seasonal event and surely you’ll have more time to style your outfits rather than searching for them!!!
